Aboriginal Procurement Policy
02Feb2018

Provide feedback on the guides that will assist the implementation of the Aboriginal Procurement Policy.

Last year, the State Government announced the introduction of WA’s first Aboriginal Procurement Policy which is due to commence 1 July 2018. From this date, government departments will be required to award one per cent of contracts to registered Aboriginal businesses, with this target increasing to two per cent on July 1, 2019 and three per cent on July 1, 2020. The targets will apply to all government agencies and government trading enterprises when purchasing goods, services, community services and works.

The Social Procurement Initiatives (SPI) team of the Department of Finance are currently working on activities to support the implementation of the Policy and have developed Guides for both government buyers and the Aboriginal business sector.

The draft Guides have been developed based on feedback provided by government buyers and Aboriginal businesses during consultation sessions held in 2017.

SPI invite you to provide feedback on the draft Guides via the Department of Finance website by 16 February 2018.

Updated versions of the Guides are expected to be published in March 2018.
