The Goldfields Arts Centre will continue to operate thanks to a new deal between the State Government and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Goldfields Arts Centre is the only multi-functional arts venue in the Goldfields region, and hosts an array of cultural activities and entertainment for the community.

Culture and Arts Minister David Templeman announced under the arrangement, the centre will be transferred to the Perth Theatre Trust, which will issue a five-year lease to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to continue the day-to-day operations. The option to strike a deal with the annual Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum can now add some more certainty to the region.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan adds, ‘Cultural industries play a big role in the strength of regional communities – they add dynamism for residents and generate tourism and events jobs’.

President of Friends of the Arts Centre, Esther Roadnight, warmly welcomed the news, ‘The alliance with Perth Theatre Trust will provide many opportunities for quality performances, and possible training avenues for our young people. The Goldfields Arts Centre draws patrons from the Lands to Esperance and Southern Cross, it is a vital entertainment hub’.
