Strategic Plan
The Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission finalised its 2005–2010 strategic plan in June 2005. It is a living document and is the product of a joint planning process between the Board and staff of the GEDC.
The GEDC's activities are broken down into four main areas in the strategic plan; these are Economic Development, Infrastructure Development, Community and Corporate Development.
A minor review will be undertaken every financial year, with a full review completed in 2010.
Functions
The Functions of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission are to:
- Maximise job creation and improve career opportunities in the Region. Develop and broaden the economic base of the Region.
- Identify infrastructure services to promote business development within the Region.
- Provide information and advice to promote business development within the Region.
- Seek to ensure that the general standard of government services and access to those services in the Region is comparable to that which applies in the metropolitan area.
- Generally take steps to encourage, promote, facilitate and monitor the economic development in the Region.
