Building Local Capability


WA Industry Link provides businesses, in particular small and medium sized enterprises, with more opportunity to compete for State Government contracts.
The WA Industry Link initiative comprises of the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS), the Industry Link Advisory Service, regionally based Local Content Advisers and a web portal, called WA Industry Link.

The Local Content Advisers work in collaboration with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) to deliver the WA Industry Link initiative in the regions.

Building Local Capability

The government has in place a range of financial and advisory programs to help businesses build capability, capacity and competitiveness in the supply chain. Local Content Advisers promote these programs and support local businesses to access these opportunities.

There are currently four rounds of the Local Capability Fund available to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Western Australia to increase their capability and competitiveness as suppliers of products, services and works to the Western Australian State Government, major projects and other important markets.

The Local Capability Fund typically provides funding assistance on a dollar for dollar basis, for activities such as planning, plant and equipment, improvements to internal infrastructure and training.

Local Capability Fund – Regional Aboriginal Business Round
This LCF round will focus on competitive regionally-based Aboriginal businesses to better prepare to participate as suppliers of products, services and works to public and the private sector markets.
Local Capability Fund – WAIPS Round (for SMEs)
This LCD round will focus on competitive SMEs in Western Australia who are seeking to specifically enhance their capabilities, increase their competitiveness and better prepare to participate as suppliers of products, services and works to Western Australian State Government agencies, Government Trading Enterprises and Local Government - the market.

Local Capability Fund - Future Battery Industry Round (for SMEs)
This LCF round aims to provide Western Australian SME's with the best opportunity to participate as suppliers of products and services related to downstream activities in the lithium-ion battery industry.

Local Capability Fund - METRONET Railcar Procurement Round (for SMEs)
This LCF round will be opened once a successful bidder has been announced.
