The GEDC Board travelled to Leonora at the start of October to meet with the Shire of Leonora President, Peter Craig, and new CEO, Ty Matson.
The Northern Goldfields is experiencing a period of high population and industry growth and activity, and the Board received briefings from the Shire on a range of key community and infrastructure projects including airport, land planning and bypass projects, the Outback Way and updates on major mining and accommodation developments.
Board members took the opportunity to visit the Aurizon rail terminal in Leonora and to tour the new Leonora Ageing in Place project, funded by the State government through the GEDC. This new facility provides seniors accommodation in the heart of Leonora.
