GEDC CEO Kris Starcevich attended the 2023 Pilbara Summit in Karratha last week, returning to Ngarluma Country for the first time since leaving the region a decade ago.
The two-day shared learning event delved into economic growth, investment opportunities, strategic development and industry diversification across the region and provided 600 delegates with the opportunity to hear from the Federal Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Hon. Madeline King, and the Hon. Don Punch MLA, State Minister for Regional Development; Disability Services; Fisheries; Seniors and Ageing; Volunteering.
Minister Punch took the opportunity to launch the new Western Australian Regional Development Framework, documenting his vision for sustainable and liveable regional communities supported by diverse economies. He also announced the State government’s $530,000 investment as part of WA’s first Aboriginal Visual Arts Industry Investment Package.
Minister Punch will be heading to the Goldfields-Esperance region soon to announce the next round of successful REDs Grant recipients.
