During a visit to Laverton today, the Minister for Regional Development, Hon Alannah MacTiernan, announced the successful recipients of this year’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants for the Goldfields-Esperance region.

Four local businesses and one local government share $785,000 of funding to deliver projects in the mining services, training, hospitality and tourism industries, to grow and diversify the local economy and to support our regional communities. 

GEDC congratulates the following grant recipients: 

Australian Potash receives $250,000 to support the establishment of the Laverton Training Centre to provide vocational training programs to local and regional people.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder based business Goldfields Machining receives $75,000 to enable local hydraulic cylinder repair services and on-site diagnostics on large scale cylinders for the mining industry.

Award-winning producer Yirri Grove Olive Oil receives $60,000 to expand their paddock-to-plate business operations and tourism experience in Esperance.

Local business Esperance Diving and Fishing has been awarded $200,000 to convert existing premises into accessible holiday units and an accessible business space to support the growing accessible tourism market in Esperance.

Shire of Dundas has been awarded $200,000 for a collaborative project between the Shire, Ngadju Traditional Owners, the Forest Products Commission and mining companies for a processing facility to create saleable products from waste timber from mine site and road clearing.
