Bedford Harbour Engineering Pty Ltd will be manufacturing a wider range of agricultural equipment and products to supply local farming sector and the rest of the WA market, following the announcement of $235,000 funding through the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant program.

Three successful Goldfields-Esperance grant recipients were announced by Minister for Regional Development, Hon. Don Punch in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, as part of the State Government’s Round 6 RED Grant program, administered by the GEDC.

Bedford Harbour Engineering will install overhead cranes at their new facility located in Shark Lake Industrial Park, to support local manufacturing of agriculture products, such as larger silos, encouraging innovation and new product development in the region.

Managing Director, Ryan Joyce said “the business was established 13 years ago from a farm shed in the Wheatbelt, with one part-time employee. Since this time, we have grown to a large-scale manufacturing and fabrication company, now being able to take the next step into a custom build facility.”

“The REDs grant will give us the capacity to increase the size of our current production and manufacture new products, such as grain silos and tipper trailers. With the new cranes, there will also be increased productivity, efficiency and effectiveness, allowing for heavy parts to be lifted and moved without compromising safety”

GEDC Chairperson, Terrence Winner said this is an exciting project bringing more opportunities to Esperance.

“The project will further diversify the agriculture industry by enabling locally based product development and manufacturing. The new cranes will allow for increased manufacturing capacity, particularly for larger products and equipment. Employees will be supported with training to develop new skills and obtain crane licenses to fill skills shortages in the region.”

The REDs Grant program is a State Government initiative that that invests in local projects to stimulate economic growth and development in regional Western Australia.
