Almost 80 people from across the region gathered at the Goldfields Art Centre on 10 February for an interactive migration employment and visa information session facilitated by the GEDC.

The Department of Home Affairs provided information on skilled visa programs and how local businesses could access skilled visa holders, with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder providing an overview of the Designated Area Migration Agreement.

Regional Development Australia Goldfields Esperance joined the discussion to explain its role as a regional certifying body and Blessings Masuku of the Goldfields Community Legal Centre shared the opportunities for employers and potential employees available through the State Government-funded Goldfields Migrant Employment Project.

Central Regional TAFE and the Jobs and Skills Centre provided insights into training options and employment support services for job seekers.

The information session was followed by an exhibition-style networking event where attendees could liaise with the presenters and other service providers and explore opportunities.

The GEDC was delighted to collaborate with local partners to deliver this successful event to connect employers and job seekers.
