GEDC staff recently attended an industry luncheon to learn about the upcoming ‘Karlkurla Experience’. Hosted by the Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre, the Karlkurla Experience is five days of events and activities running during NAIDOC week from Monday 4 July to Friday 8 July. Named after the Aboriginal name for silky pear fruit that inspired Kalgoorlie’s name, the experience offers an authentic connection to First Nations culture as shared by the Tjupan, Ngaanyatjarra and Ngadju peoples. Running at the same time is the Kalgoorlie Aboriginal Film Festival, with free film screenings at 6pm each day.
