In early October, the GEDC hosted representatives from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, including Director General Rebecca Brown, also the CEO of Tourism WA, on a visit to the region. Several stakeholder forums were held including a tourism session and an innovation and start-ups forum in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in addition to meetings with a variety of businesses and industry representatives. There were many great outcomes from the visit, highlighting local initiatives increasing visitation and tourism products, sharing concepts to foster regional innovation hubs, and exploring partnership opportunities in emerging sectors like automation technologies. The GEDC is hosting an ‘Innovation Unconference’ as part of the SEGRA conference event in November.
