The GEDC and local employers enjoyed a recent opportunity to meet students and trainers of the Certificate III Civil Construction Plant Operations being delivered by a training alliance in the Kurrawang community. Following four weeks of theory, sixteen students are completing eight weeks of practical learning on various earth moving equipment, including work on a community infrastructure project at Kurrawang. MEEDAC, the Jobs and Skills Centre (JSC), Worklink, CRTAFE and Max Employment were also on site for the ‘Meet the employer and students’ event. Students demonstrated their skills, shared a locally prepared lunch and heard from potential employers about the nature and opportunity of working in construction, the fifth-biggest employer in the Goldfields-Esperance region.
