Esperance Ravensthorpe Leadership Initiative 2024

Esperance Ravensthorpe Leadership Initiative 2024

The GEDC is delighted to support the Esperance Ravensthorpe Leadership Initiative (ERLI) again in 2024. The communities of Esperance and Ravensthorpe benefit significantly from local leaders emerging from local business, industry and not for profit organisations.

Working closely with South Regional TAFE, RDA Goldfields Esperance has developed the 2024 ERLI program as a series of six full day monthly workshops designed to balance professional development with accredited academic learning. This dual focus ensures that participants not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills that can immediately be applied within their professional lives and community roles. The program will cover six essential micro-credentials from a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, leaving a further six units to complete the Certificate IV.

Workshops combine traditional classroom learning with real-world applications. Participants will engage in a variety of activities, from case studies and group discussions to hands-on projects that encourage them to apply what they've learned in a community context.

Through collaboration with local businesses, community leaders, and organisations, participants will have unique opportunities to expand their networks, gain insights into different sectors, and understand the intricacies of community leadership. This aspect of the program is designed to encourage participants to step up as community leaders, apply for more challenging job roles, and importantly to volunteer in local community groups, thereby directly contributing to the region's growth and development.

GEDC CEO Kris Starcevich said "Building local leadership capacity through programs such as the ERLI, not only helps individuals to better develop their own businesses or organisations, it brings a wealth of experience and skills into the community through volunteerism, good governance and decision-making and has a positive effect on the economic outcomes for the region". "Positive local leadership helps change the perceptions of our region and community. The ERLI program will help participants develop their own skills as well as advocate for local outcomes."

Applications to participate in the ERLI close 4 April 2024.
