G-E 2023 (H1) Housing and Land Summary

The GEDC has published the sixth edition of the Housing and Land Summary covering the first half of 2023 (January to June) with property market data and trends for ten local government areas in the Goldfields-Esperance region, as well as individual suburb profiles for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. 

During this period, property sales in the region remained high compared to the years before 2020, for example, H1 2023 represented a doubling in property transactions at 633 compared to 322 transactions in H1 2019. There has been a steady increase in prices over the last five years with a 26% increase for house prices and 18% increase for units. 

The region’s rental vacancy rates have remained exceptionally low, being under 1% since 2021 and in June 2023, were at 0.7%. Over a one-year period (between 2022-2023), the region’s median weekly rent increased by 15% from $435 to $500 per week. 

More specifically, in Kalgoorlie-Boulder median rents increased year-on-year by 15% hitting $534 per week and in Esperance, increased by 2.7% reaching $377 per week. The rental vacancy rate at the end of June 2023 was 0.9% in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and 0.1% in Esperance.
