GEDC supports delegates to World Indigenous Tourism Summit

The Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC) has partnered with GEDC to offer three sponsorship opportunities for our region’s Aboriginal Tourism Operators to attend the World Indigenous Tourism Summit in Perth on March 13-16, 2023.

Goldfields Honey Ant Tours (Kalgoorlie-Boulder), Mudjar Aboriginal Corporation (Esperance) and Laverton Cross Cultural Association are the sponsorship recipients, and will be attending alongside Esperance’s Dabungool Cultural Experiences – who are attending as part of WAITOC’s Aboriginal Tourism Academy program.

The World Indigenous Tourism Summit brings together diverse voices in the tourism industry, both indigenous and non-indigenous across tourism academia, development, business and government. Packed with an impressive list of international speakers including, Chief Ian Campbell, Hereditary Chief of the Squamish First Nation, British Columbia, Verónica Kunze, Chilean Undersecretary of Tourism, and Anna Pollock of Conscious Travel, the World Indigenous Tourism Summit will provide a unique platform for our Aboriginal Tourism Operators to learn about how other indigenous nations have developed tourism markets and network with their national and international peers.

Supporting the further development of our First Nations cultural tourism experiences will enhance the offerings to our visitors and residents alike, whilst helping to showcase the cultural diversity in our region.
