The Goldfields Food Community Project launch, hosted by Edith Cowan University, took place in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on November 18.
The event was attended by Goldfields community representing a wide cross-section of regional food interests and activities.
Participants had the opportunity to network and learn more about the project, while engaging in workshop activities that included brainstorming their vision of a food-secure Goldfields in 2027 and identifying food programs and initiatives that currently exist in the region.
The project commenced as a trial in WA’s South West, looking to support those who had difficulties in accessing food due to physical distance, affordability, social constraints or other factors.
Findings from the workshop will be made available to the community in the new year.
