Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission staff took advantage of an opportunity to trial electric motoring this month during a three-week Tesla Goldfields-Esperance (GE) roadshow by way of a Mojo and Horizon Power partnership.
GVROC Regional Climate Alliances' Niki Curtis collected the vehicle in Northam taking it to Laverton, then bringing it to Kalgoorlie-Boulder for a short stay. The Tesla is also slated to visit Dundas and Esperance. More information on the GVROC Regional Climate Alliance here. Touring of an electric vehicle (EV) on a GE tour links well with aspirations for reaching global 2050 climate goals for zero emissions, the recently completed GVROC Regional Climate Alliance Renewable Energy Audit and Emissions Baseline Report, and the significant battery mineral resources that exist in the GE region.
The Roadshow set out to raise the profile and introduce knowledge of EV’s throughout the region’s communities, as well as collect data regarding the suitability or requirements of EV’s in the region.
The Charge Up Workplace EV Charging Grant is a $15 million program aimed at expanding the EV charging infrastructure throughout the State. Round 1 will see $3.75 million of grants available targeting not-for-profit organisations, small and medium businesses and LGA’s, to build the density of EV charging stations around the State. Full details of the program and how to apply can be found on the website. Applications close 31 July 2023.
