The Western Australian Government is introducing a statewide container deposit scheme which enables consumers to receive a 10 cent refund on all eligible beverage containers. The scheme will reduce litter, increase recycling and protect the environment, also providing an opportunity for charitable and community groups to raise funds.
 
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is seeking feedback to assist this scheme including comment on the refund amount of 10 cents and the scope of containers. Western Australia’s container deposit scheme is expected to start on 1 January 2019.
 
There are two ways to provide your feedback via an anonymous online survey (on consumer preferences) and/or a detailed written submission to the Department. Written submissions must be received by 5pm (WST) on 23 October 2017. No late submissions will be considered.
