Work into assessing the need and demand for a Regional University Study Hub (RUSH) in Esperance has commenced, with GEDC engaging external consultants to undertake a feasibility study. A RUSH is a dedicated facility designed to support regional and remote students undertaking tertiary studies. It provides a locally-based solution to improve access to higher education by addressing gaps in tertiary study support, assisting students while undertaking their studies and enhancing the experience of studying locally.
The Feasibility study will explore opportunities, challenges and potential RUSH models that may suit the Esperance community. Consultation on the project commenced in February, with the GEDC holding meetings and a stakeholder workshop to capture the viewpoints of local schools, tertiary education providers and other stakeholders.
As part of this work, the consultants are conducting a short survey for those who are considering attending higher education (university or TAFE) in the next 5 years. The survey will help build a picture of the Esperance community’s demand for a Regional University Study Hub and will close on 13 March 2026. If you’re studying – or considering studying – within the next five years, your feedback will be invaluable. Complete the survey here.
If you have anything else you’d like to share about going to University or TAFE in Esperance, please reach out to the GEDC via email: info@gedc.wa.gov.au.
