A Massey Ferguson tractor and its’ crew took an epic 11 day adventure through the Wheatbelt and Goldfields, through to Esperance, before heading back to Perth, to demonstrate the use of biofuels.
The GEDC supported the tour, which will feature in a documentary called ‘Fuelling Australia’s Future’, to promote carbon farming and bioenergy use. Advanced biofuels will play an important role in the decarbonisation of mining, agriculture, transport and aviation as well as providing opportunities for regional growth.
A new State Advanced Biofuel Strategy is being prepared for WA to guide planning and investment in WA bioenergy development. Large parts of the Goldfields-Esperance region are already producing canola for bioenergy export and the agricultural areas around Esperance, Ravensthorpe and the south of the region, are highly suitable for bioenergy development with a variety of feedstocks like canola, straw and wood for biofuel production.
