The third Annual Goldfields-Esperance Arts and Culture Gathering took place in Kalgoorlie-Boulder last week with a Film Harvest screening of Gravel Road. The free public event, attended by 70 people, showcased the film Gravel Road, which documents the journey of Tjuntjuntjarra Rock Band, the Desert Stars, on their first tour. The Gravel Road screening event was supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, GEDC and ArtGold.
The Arts and Culture forum took place on Thursday with participants traveling from across the region to share their experiences, creative initiatives, and future artistic plans. Special Guest, Scott Cane, Australian archaeologist and anthropologist presented on his experiences living and working alongside people in the Western and Southern Desert of Western Australia.
The day was rounded out with a tour and artists talk on the First Nations Art Installation for the Kalgoorlie City Centre project in St Barbara’s Square.
