GEDC celebrated NAIDOC week in Kalgoorlie-Boulder by supporting the Eastern Goldfields First Nations Council’s events and immersing in the cultural of our region.
Our Kalgoorlie team attended the NAIDOC march through Hannan street, culminating in an opening ceremony at Kingsbury Park. The week of celebrations also included a honey ant tour, learning about worker ants, water trees, sandalwood and the Karlkurla (pronounced gull-gurl-la) the native silky pear where Kalgoorlie gets its’ name.
Along with the Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber, we welcomed a Canadian First Nations delegation to the region to strengthen international Indigenous business connections. The visit highlighted the success of First Nations led partnerships and included a networking event, supported by the GEDC, for local businesses and stakeholders to connect.
