Curtin students gain insight during visit

GEDC worked with Curtin’s course coordinators in the lead-up to the visit, assisting with program planning and stakeholder introductions.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor John Bowler, pictured, local professionals, organisations and GEDC staff met with students to discuss their urban design and planning projects, which included a study of precincts across the City and the design of a foyer for young people in need of housing and at risk of homelessness.

Student Thomas Brady said the visit provided an enriching experience that took students out of their comfort zone.

"I've been exposed to a lot of opinions and thoughts; meeting stakeholders in the industry has been fantastic. I’ve learnt the importance of listening as an architect, a valuable takeaway that I can now apply in my profession," he said.

The GEDC actively supports regional programs for visiting students.
