The 1.15 ha waterfront site, adjacent to the newly refurbed RAC Esperance Holiday Park, was operated as a school camp and backpackers lodge by YHA Australia until recently.
Following the closure of the YHA backpackers, the facility has been operated by the Shire of Esperance, with funding support through the GEDC, as short-stay accommodation for workers and people moving to town, due to the shortage of available rental properties.
Proposals are now sought from experienced tourism operators/developers within the tourist accommodation industry for the redevelopment and future operation of this important tourism location.
Respondents will need to demonstrate their resources to redevelop and operate a sustainable and functional accommodation facility on one of Esperance’s prime coastal tourism sites.
The Shire is also seeking proposals that demonstrate how the planned revitalisation of this central tourism site will add value to the asset and provide social and economic benefits to the community, and support increased visitation.
