Staff from the GEDC and DPIRD’s Aboriginal Economic Development team attended the 2022 Forest Products Commission (FPC) Sandalwood Forum on November 23, hosted at Curtin University’s Graduate Hall in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Sandalwood industry stakeholders from the across the region were in attendance, with some attendees driving from as far away as Meekatharra for the forum.
The event featured presentations from FPC and Wescorp.
Fleur Coakley, Group Sales & Marketing Manager and Aboriginal Partnerships Manager at Wescorp, detailed the variety of products made from Goldfields sandalwood and the international markets for these products.
The WA Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions also presented on the current draft Sandalwood Biodiversity Management Programme, which is currently open for public comment until 9 December 2022.
