GEDC engaging on Drought Resilience Plan

GEDC engaging on Drought Resilience Plan

The GEDC team travelled to Leonora last week, to meet with local governments and explore the next steps for the Goldfields-Esperance Regional Drought Resilience Plan.

The workshop encouraged collaborative discussion between the seven Goldfields local governments in attendance on future drought preparedness and provided important input into the development of the regional drought resilience plan.

A second workshop was held in Esperance with the Shires of Esperance and Ravensthorpe.

These workshops are a part of a broader consultation series being delivered by the GEDC to inform the regional drought resilience plan during 2024.

Ensuring that regional perspectives are captured is central to the plan which aims to develop practical, locally-led actions to enhance drought resilience and preparedness across the Goldfields-Esperance region.

The Regional Drought Resilience Planning Program is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
