Minister Michael visits Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun and Esperance communities

GEDC staff accompanied Minister for Goldfields-Esperance, Hon David Michael MLA his visit to Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun and Esperance last week.

The Minister travelled to Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun on Wednesday meeting with a range of stakeholder and groups. The visit allowed the Minister to see first-hand, the impacts of recent fires and discuss the Shire’s plans to drive economic diversification and opportunities within the tourism industry.

While in Hopetoun, the Minister visited a REDs Grant project at the Hopetoun Beachside Caravan Park, walked through their new fully accessible family cabins, currently being installed. He also announced a successful Lotterywest grant to the RAVE About Arts Committee which will support the community’s Youth Arts Space.

The Minister travelled to Esperance on Thursday, where he met with Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation and Shire of Esperance as well as touring the Port of Esperance, and Cannery Arts Centre facilities.

It was a pleasure to host the Minister Michael for his first regional trip of 2026.
