GEDC staff marked National Reconciliation Week, held 27 May – 3 June, by attending local and virtual events. This year’s theme is ‘Now More Than Ever’ #NRW2024 providing Australians with an opportunity to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber hosted a live stream National Reconciliation Breakfast event attended by people from across WA and other regional areas and featuring local Elder, Aubrey Lynch, who speak about his experiences and the importance of reconciliation.
GEDC staff also attended the Goldfields Aboriginal Language Awards where local champions were recognised for their work to preserve the Goldfields First Nations Languages.
