New Privacy and Data Sharing Laws Commence on 1 July 2026

The GEDC respects your right to privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

The Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 will:

  • Set clear principles and standards for how government agencies collect, use, store, and share your personal information.
  • Allow agencies to share information only if they follow clear principles for risk, decision-making, and transparency.
  • Ensure Aboriginal people are involved when sharing data that affects Aboriginal people and communities.

From the 1 July, GEDC will have obligations to inform our stakeholders about why personal information is being collected or stored, for example, for you to receive a payment from us as a supplier or grant recipient. We will also be implementing new policies to manage the sharing of personal information.

GEDC may be required to seek your consent to collect your personal information to undertake our day-to-day work, such as grants, local content services and regional events.
