Online mapping to help shape South Coast Marine Park

Online mapping to help shape South Coast Marine Park

Local residents and visitors to the south coast are encouraged to use a newly developed online mapping tool, designed to capture information on how the coastal area is used.

The ‘south coast marine values mapper’ will help inform planning and future management of the proposed South Coast Marine Park, including marine park zoning, alongside other direct community engagement.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) developed the tool in partnership with social researchers at the University of Western Australia and traditional owners from the Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation.

For more information about the marine park proposal, speak to Lori-Ann Shibish, Community Engagement and Information Officer, about the marine park proposal at the Esperance DBCA office or email pscmp@dbca.wa.gov.au.
