REDs Funding to Expand Yirri Grove Olive Oil Operations

Yirri Grove Olive Oil is one of five projects to receive funding through round four of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants announced recently.

The award-winning Esperance producer will receive $60,000 to expand its restaurant dining space and olive oil production area, which will enable the business to grow more produce, operate year-round and capitalise on new tourism products and promotion.

Yirri Grove provides a unique, paddock-to-plate tourism experience in Esperance and has recently been included in the Esperance Farm Experience, See, Touch & Taste Tour, featuring local agri-business attractions such as the Esperance Stonehenge, Oake Marsh Farm and Esperance Distillery.

Yirri Grove Olive Oil Managing Director Anne O’Neill, pictured alongside husband Shane, said: “The RED Grant enables us to go one step further by expanding our business to be more productive.

“The funding will provide additional restaurant seating and dining room space for increased capacity. This will allow us to support ongoing employment with a full-time staff member.”

Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission (GEDC) Chairperson Sabina Shugg said the funding for Yirri Grove Olive Oil would significantly boost the capacity of this boutique tourism and agri-food business in Esperance.

“Now more people will be able to visit and enjoy this business, with the expansion also enabling the planting of additional olive trees,” Ms Shugg said.

“This will ensure production can keep up with increasing future demand.”

The RED Grants program is a State Government initiative investing $40.8 million over seven years in locally driven projects to stimulate economic diversity across Western Australia.

In the Goldfields-Esperance region, this round of RED Grants supports five projects sharing in $785,000 of State Government funding. The broad range of projects aim to enhance the region’s productivity, grow partnerships, build capacity and drive sustainable job outcomes.
