Regional Economic Development Round 8 Recipients Announced 

Six successful recipients for Round 8 of the State Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program have been announced by Minister for Regional Development, the Hon. Stephen Dawson. $635,000 has been shared across businesses in Esperance, Kambalda and Kalgoorlie-Boulder, supporting business expansion, workforce training, and access to new markets.

The following projects will receive funding:

  • Goldfields Testing Laboratory Pty Ltd ($43,000) will introduce a specialised Round Determinate Panel (RDP) testing service to assess fibre reinforced concrete, widely used in mining operations to stabilise tunnels and pit walls.
  • Westralia Homes ($65,000) will invest in new equipment and machinery to implement a modern, sustainable slab construction method using recycled cardboard pod technology, enhancing efficiency and environmental outcomes.
  • Kambalda based Leeson Electrical ($250,000) will establish a renewable energy division, Silky Pear Energy, with a purpose-built workshop in Boulder including assembly, research and development and training facilities.
  • Pitbull Services ($138,000) will develop a vehicle decommissioning and recycling facility at its Kambalda site, enabling safe, compliant dismantling and recycling of end-of-life vehicles.
  • In Esperance, Elpha Contracting ($100,000) will expand its grain covering operations, adding a dedicated training and administration area to grow its permanent workforce and provide stable, year-round employment in the agricultural sector.
  • SEA Heavy Diesel ($39,000) will increase its workshop capacity with a new heavy vehicle service bay to improve service efficiency and support the region’s transport and logistics needs.

The RED Grants program is a $60.85 million State Government initiative supporting locally driven projects that stimulate regional economic growth, innovation, and job creation.
