Minister for Regional Development and Ports, Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, visited the region last fortnight to meet with key stakeholders and receive updates on several regional projects. The Minister was accompanied throughout the visit by GEDC CEO, Kris Starcevich.

The visit began in Esperance with a tour of Esperance Port, where the Minister was briefed on recently completed infrastructure upgrades and planned developments to support future trade and operations.

The Minister and CEO then met with Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (ETNTAC), where they recieved updates on ETNTAC’s projects and attended the Djilba Wildflower Festival – an event delivered in partnership with the Esperance Wildflower Society and St Andrew’s Anglican Church, celebrating Spring, the Noongar season of Djilba and local wildflowers.

At Esperance Care Services Community Hub in Nulsen, the Minister viewed the proposed site for new solar panels – a State Government election commitment facilitated through the GEDC, which aims to improve the Hub’s sustainability and reduce operational costs.

The visit concluded in Kalgoorlie-Boulder with a tour of the Palace Theatre Recreation Centre, a heritage-listed venue which also recieved State Government funding for new lighting and internal refurbishments to enhance usability of the space.
