The Early Insights for More Resilient Communities project, led by the University of Canberra and supported by the South-West WA Drought Hub, is seeking input from across regional Western Australia to understand indicators of strengthening or weakening community resilience during and after events like drought, bushfire, flood, storms, or economic shocks. As part of this consultation, workshops delivered in Esperance and Kalgoorlie last week, brought together participants from across community services, climate resilience, agriculture, housing and environmental sectors.
Information gathered will assist in the development of an online dashboard for use by organisations and leaders to better understand their community’s needs before, during or after significant events.
The outcomes of the project support priority actions of the Goldfields-Esperance Regional Drought Resilience Plan, under the theme; Informed, Empowered Communities. Read more about the Plan at Goldfields-Esperance Regional Drought Resilience Plan.
The Early Insights project in Western Australia is coordinated by the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub, led by the Grower Group Alliance. This project received funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Climate Resilience Program.
