GEDC Board and staff visit the Shire of Ravensthorpe and Fitzgerald Coast for the June Board Meeting

The GEDC Board travelled to the Shire of Ravensthorpe and Fitzgerald Coast for its June Board meeting, where they met in the Council Chambers of the newly constructed Ravensthorpe Cultural Precinct. The 1,400sqm community hub has been designed as a dynamic, safe, and inclusive space for residents and visitors of all ages. It offers a range of activities and services in one location, including the Visitor Centre, Library, Shire Administration offices, seniors and playgroup spaces, as well as the local Community Resource Centre (CRC).

After the meeting, the Board and a selection of GEDC staff were treated to a tour of the new precinct by Project Manager, Natalie Bell, along with other Shire of Ravensthorpe representatives, where they gained an insight into the uniquely impressive LVL (laminated veneer lumber) timber structure – a project that was support by the Australian Government in Round 4 of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

Whilst in the region, the Board also received presentations in Hopetoun from First Quantum Minerals (FQM) and the Shire of Ravensthorpe, before finishing the visit with a joint dinner alongside Regional Development Australia Goldfields- Esperance and the Shire of Ravensthorpe Councilors and CEO.
