Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission is proud to celebrate the history, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by supporting NAIDOC Week events in the region.

GEDC Board Deputy Chair, Terrence Winner and GEDC staff member, Regan Brewer both attended the Kalgoorlie-Boulder NAIDOC opening ceremony at Centennial Park, where GEDC were presented with a certificate of appreciation for our support for NAIDOC Week 2023.

The Eastern Goldfields First Nations Council and the NAIDOC working group have created an exciting and entertaining calendar of events in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, tailored to all age groups. GEDC staff attended the NAIDOC march on Monday 3 July 2023.

CEO, Kris Starcevich, attended the Esperance opening ceremony and the walk to the foreshore, where NAIDOC activities and a community BBQ were held. The Esperance opening ceremony was supported by Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation, Shire of Esperance and WA Police.

Shire of Esperance and Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation’s collaboration to share the Wudjari culture and language with the wider community can be viewed on the locally designed banners in the main street.

NAIDOC week is from 2 July to 9 July 2023. GEDC staff will continue to support events throughout the week.
