Goldfields-Esperance Local Content
Local Content Program
The Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission has a strong focus on building a robust local economy, diversifying the region’s economic base and increasing the regions liveability to retain and attract people to the region. Recognising regional business owners often wear many hats and face regional specific challenges, Local Content Advisers play a lead role in promoting supply opportunities and facilitating regional business capability and growth. In the Goldfields-Esperance region, your Local Content Adviser is Jude Daley.
Our Local Content Adviser is committed to helping local businesses succeed. Here are seven ways your Local Content Adviser can assist your local business:
- Connecting local businesses with local supply opportunities – helping you to increase awareness of how to find procurement opportunities, making connections to buyers, navigating Tenders WA.
- Connecting head contractors and subcontractors – championing local business capabilities and strengthening supply chains.
- Facilitating business growth – connecting businesses with grant and training opportunities, working with businesses to identify and overcome issues restricting growth.
- Innovation and future industries – working with agencies to identify future skills requirements and with local businesses, industry bodies and local TAFE to build local capability and capacity.
- Aboriginal business engagement – supporting regional Aboriginal business to prepare for and secure government contacts
- Providing guidance on government procurement – offer guidance on navigating the complexities of government procurement processes and empowering businesses to better understand and participate effectively in government contracts.
- A regional voice – providing feedback on regional advantages and challenges, advocating for the design of procurement activities to maximise local business participation.
The Local Content Adviser role is an essential component of the WA Industry Link initiative under the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017. Local Content in regional WA is supported through the WA Buy Local Policy which is designed to ensure regional businesses can benefit from the State Government’s expenditure on goods, services and works.
