GEDC staff gathered at CRTAFE Kalgoorlie-Boulder for a jam-packed two days of professional development and group staff training earlier this month.
With several key topics surrounding current and future major projects in the region, staff focused on more collaborative ways of working, participated in planning sessions and shared individual knowledge from recent workshop attendance with the team. Presentations included a current situational analysis of Early Childhood Education and Care in the region, and a briefing on the Northern Native Seeds Industry Development Initiative.
A highlight of the two-day session included a special visit from Gary and Laurel Cooper, along with a screening of Gary’s production, “Sugar Bag” – the story of Laurel’s early life in the bush and her mother’s attempts to keep her concealed from authorities. Heartfelt thanks to both Gary and Laurel for joining the team and sharing their special story.
GEDC staff were also treated to a sneak peak of the Kalgoorlie City Centre project, with an after-hours site tour of the development, set to officially open at the end of this year. Special thanks to the City for facilitating the visit.
Gathering throughout the year as a team helps facilitate and strengthen collective ways of working, by bridging the 400km gap between the two offices, located in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Esperance.
