The GEDC enables regional development through State Government grant programs as well as providing project support to stakeholders, to access a range of other funding resources.

Below is a list of selected Australian grants from external providers that may be useful for organisations seeking funding assistance for socio-economic developments within the Goldfields-Esperance region. The GEDC endeavours to keep this list as up to date as possible.

Grant Opportunities

  • Active Regional Communities Grant

    The WA government’s Active Regional Communities (ARC) Grants Program aims to increase the opportunities for regional people to participate in sport and active recreation activities in regional WA and is tailored to meet the demands and challenges of sport and active recreation groups within the nine regions of the WA including the Goldfields-Esperance region.

  • Small Business Development Corporation – Small Business Growth Grants

    This program aims to support eligible established small businesses operating in Western Australia who are seeking to grow their business to improve performance, sustainability, and profitability. Through the Small Business Growth Grants program you can access up to $10,000 in co-funded services to help grow your business if you are a for-profit organisation or business (not for profits and charities are ineligible).

    Grants are to help WA small business owners access professional services that support the growth and development of their business.

  • Industry Growth Program

    The Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program provides an Advisory Service for startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) undertaking innovative commercialisation and/or growth projects that are within the priority areas of the Australian Government’s National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) and help build Australia’s manufacturing capability for the future.

  • Lotterywest Grants

    Grants are available to projects that meet one of Lotterywest’s priority areas, including inclusive thriving community, connected cultural experiences, protected sustainable ecosystems, smart innovative society and active healthy people.

  • The Commonwealth Accessible Australia Initiative

    The Commonwealth Accessible Australia initiative (Accessible Australia) provides funding to make it easier for people with disability to access their communities. This includes both the built and natural environment.
    Accessible Australia builds on the Changing Places initiative. Changing Places funds fixed and portable accessible toilet facilities. The 2022–23 October Budget provided $32.2 million from 2022 to 2026. This covered up to half of the funding needed to build Changing Places facilities across Australia.
    From 2025, Accessible Australia replaces the Changing Places initiative.

  • Horizon Power – Community Partnerships

    Registered not-for-profit organisations, community groups and local government authorities in Horizon Power’s local service are eligible to apply for grant funding from $1,000 to $50,000 if their initiatives impact local communities within Horizon Power’s service areas.

  • PBC Capacity Building Grants For Native Title Corporations

    The Australian Government is providing funding to assist Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs) generate economic benefits through the effective and sustainable management of their land, to increase capacity of PBCs to take advantage of economic opportunities, build long-term organisational capacity within PBCs and support native title agreement making.   • Advancing Renewables Program

    The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Advancing Renewables Program supports a range of development, demonstration and pre-commercial deployment projects. This includes opportunities to optimise the transition to renewable electricity, commercialise clean hydrogen and support the transition to low emission metals.

  • City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Event Sponsorship Program

    The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Event Sponsorship Program is to position Kalgoorlie-Boulder as a significant event destination in partnership with community organisations and businesses that make positive contributions to the quality of life in the City and our local economy.

  • Regional Precincts And Partnership Program

    This program offers grants up to $5 million to develop a precinct idea through to investment-ready stage in partnership with local stakeholders to benefit regional communities.

  • City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Group Grant

    The grant provides financial assistance to not-for-profit community groups and organisations for projects that strengthen and enhance the social wellbeing, development and sustainability of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community. There are three categories available from community group grant, outstanding individual grant and sponsorship of hire fees.

  • Farmers’ Market Grant Scheme

    Financial assistance, in the form of grants of up to $50,000 (excluding GST), will be available to farmers’ markets operators to support business operations, build capability and ensure a sustainable business model for future success.

  • Small Business Export Loan

    The Australian Government’s Small Business Export Loan provides small to medium export businesses with loans of $20,000 – $350,000 to cover up to 80% of the costs to secure an export contract or purchase order with an overseas buyer. The loans are designed to meet the specific needs of small and medium sized businesses, to take advantage of export opportunities when financial institutions cannot assist.

  • RACIP Arts Activities in Regional Communities

    For projects that support participation in, access to and creation of arts and culture in regional WA.
    (This program is specifically for regional WA and is only open once per year.)
    Categories are:

    • Creative Projects – up to $60,000
    • Creative and Cultural Planning – up to $50,000 (regional local government applicants only for this category).

  • Tourism WA – Regional Events Scheme Funding

    Regional Events Scheme (RES) provides funding to small-scale or developing regional events across Western Australia. Tourism WA provides RES funding to regional events which bring more people to the regions, generate more visitor spend for local communities, attract media coverage, showcase a strong point of difference for an area, add vibrancy to the region and support local jobs.

  • RACIP Regional Performing Arts

    For the development of new performing arts work and touring of existing performing arts work in regional Western Australia.
    Categories are:

    • Made in WA – up to $150,000 for the development of new performing art works, which are relevant and responsive to regional audiences and communities, that will be premiered in regional venues.
    • Playing WA – up to $150,000 for the touring of WA produced performing arts shows to regional and remote communities in Western Australia.

  • Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment

    This Australian Government funding supports a wage increase for all eligible ECEC workers from December 2024. The Australian Government has announced a total investment of $3.6 billion towards the ECEC Worker Retention Payment, of this up to $3.5 billion has been made available for this grant opportunity. The grant funding awarded under this grant opportunity grant will be available from the first business day in December 2024 to 30 November 2026. Applications close 30 September 2026.

  • Tourism WA – Regional Events Program Funding

    The Regional Events Program provides support to major regional events that are seeking over $40,000 in funding.
    The aim of the funding program is to support medium to large regional events which bring more people to the region and create visitor spend, attract media coverage which promotes the destination, involves the local community and adds vibrancy to the region, supports local jobs and encourages visitors to come outside of the typical tourist season.

  • Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal – Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) – Small & Vital Grants

    The Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) Small & Vital stream gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities.

    Small grants up to $10,000 are available for a broad range of grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities that strengthen local people, places and climate solutions with a preference for smaller communities (populations under 15,000).
    Targeted larger leverage grants up to $50,000 are available for projects that focus on strengthening the digital skills, confidence and safety of adults.

  • BHP – WA Nickle West Community Grant

    The aim of the funding is to support eligible local community organisations to deliver positive community, environmental and economic development initiatives in BHP’s host communities of Kalgoorlie, Kambalda, Leinster, Leonora, Wiluna and Kwinana. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for not-for-profit organisations and educational institutions.

  • Self-employment Assistance Program

    The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations’ Self Employment Assistance Program can help with your business idea or existing business through services including workshops, business plan development, free accredited Small Business Training, Business Advice Sessions, Business Health Check and coaching.
