The GEDC enables regional development through State Government grant programs as well as providing project support to stakeholders, to access a range of other funding resources.
Below is a list of selected Australian grants from external providers that may be useful for organisations seeking funding assistance for socio-economic developments within the Goldfields-Esperance region. The GEDC endeavours to keep this list as up to date as possible.

Active Regional Communities Grant
The WA government’s Active Regional Communities (ARC) Grants Program aims to increase the opportunities for regional people to participate in sport and active recreation activities in regional WA and is tailored to meet the demands and challenges of sport and active recreation groups within the nine regions of the WA including the Goldfields-Esperance region.

New Industries and Innovation Fund: Innovation Pathways Program
These grants aim to support programs that enable entrepreneurs and startups to become investor ready, equip entrepreneurs to scale and commercialise, and inform investors to increase the available capital to Western Australia’s innovation ecosystem.Amount: Up to $300,000Applications Close: 30 January 2026

Industry Growth Program
The Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program provides an Advisory Service for startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) undertaking innovative commercialisation and/or growth projects that are within the priority areas of the Australian Government’s National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) and help build Australia’s manufacturing capability for the future.

Lotterywest Grants
Grants are available to projects that meet one of Lotterywest’s priority areas, including inclusive thriving community, connected cultural experiences, protected sustainable ecosystems, smart innovative society and active healthy people.

Accessible Australia Initiative
Accessible Australia is a national program that helps make community spaces easier to use for people with disability. It provides funding to improve built spaces and natural areas like buildings, playgrounds, beaches, and parks.
Accessible Australia will fund:
- fixed Changing Places toilet facilities
- portable Changing Places toilet facilities
- portable equipment for inclusive beaches (like beach wheelchairs, floating wheelchairs and accessible beach matting)
- portable amenities for inclusive national parks (like all-terrain wheelchairs and accessible paths)
- fixed inclusive play spaces (like liberty swings and all-access spinners).
Accessible Australia replaces the Changing Places initiative. It now includes more ways to make public spaces easier to use for people with disability.
Eligible To: State/Territory Governments, Local Governments and Not-for-Profits
Amount Funded: Undisclosed (varies from 50% to 100% of project cost depending on the activity/ies)

Horizon Power – Community Partnerships
Registered not-for-profit organisations, community groups and local government authorities in Horizon Power’s local service are eligible to apply for grant funding from $1,000 to $50,000 if their initiatives impact local communities within Horizon Power’s service areas.

PBC Capacity Building Grants For Native Title Corporations
The Australian Government is providing funding to assist Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs) generate economic benefits through the effective and sustainable management of their land, to increase capacity of PBCs to take advantage of economic opportunities, build long-term organisational capacity within PBCs and support native title agreement making. Clean Energy Future Fund
This program aims to provide a source of funding of innovative clean energy projects in Western Australian that offer high public value through the following outcomes:
- significant, cost-effective reduction in emissions below projected (or baseline) emissions as a direct result of the clean energy project
design, deployment, testing or demonstration of innovative clean energy projects likely to deliver community benefits or lead to broad adoption and significant reductions in emissions.
Amount: $100,000 to $4 million (GST exclusive)
Applications Close: 8am AWST, Monday 20 April 2026

Advancing Renewables Program
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Advancing Renewables Program supports a range of development, demonstration and pre-commercial deployment projects. This includes opportunities to optimise the transition to renewable electricity, commercialise clean hydrogen and support the transition to low emission metals.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Event Sponsorship Program
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Event Sponsorship Program is to position Kalgoorlie-Boulder as a significant event destination in partnership with community organisations and businesses that make positive contributions to the quality of life in the City and our local economy.

Regional Precincts And Partnership Program
This program offers grants up to $5 million to develop a precinct idea through to investment-ready stage in partnership with local stakeholders to benefit regional communities.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Group Grant
The grant provides financial assistance to not-for-profit community groups and organisations for projects that strengthen and enhance the social wellbeing, development and sustainability of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community. There are three categories available from community group grant, outstanding individual grant and sponsorship of hire fees.

Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Event Sponsorships
Sponsorship of events and conference across where which grain growers are directly impacted and in which they benefit from.

Tourism WA – Regional Events Scheme Funding
Regional Events Scheme (RES) provides funding to small-scale or developing regional events across Western Australia. Tourism WA provides RES funding to regional events which bring more people to the regions, generate more visitor spend for local communities, attract media coverage, showcase a strong point of difference for an area, add vibrancy to the region and support local jobs.

Creative Australia – Arts Projects: Individuals and Groups
This program aims to fund a range of activities for individuals and groups that deliver benefits to the arts sector and wider public, including national and international audiences and communities. Eligible activities include, but are not limited to; professional skills development, creation of new work, creative development, touring, festivals, productions, exhibitions and more. Activities can take place nationally, internationally, online, or in a combination of in-person and online.
Funding Amount: $10,000 to $50,000

Who Can Apply? Individuals or groups that are Australian citizens or permanent residents and are a practicing artist or arts professional. -
Tourism WA – Regional Events Program Funding
The Regional Events Program provides support to major regional events that are seeking over $40,000 in funding.
The aim of the funding program is to support medium to large regional events which bring more people to the region and create visitor spend, attract media coverage which promotes the destination, involves the local community and adds vibrancy to the region, supports local jobs and encourages visitors to come outside of the typical tourist season. -
Local Battery Manufacturing Program – Production Scale-up Grant Stream
This program aims to support primarily the local manufacturing of residential batteries and battery components, as well as industrial and commercial applications, increasing Western Australia’s industry participation in battery energy storage supply chains.
Funding of up to $5 million is available. The grant will cover up to 50% of eligible activity costs (excluding GST). Applicants are required to contribute the remaining 50%, which must be in cash or cash equivalents. In-kind contributions will not be accepted.Applications Close: 26 March 2026

Future Health Research and Innovation Fund – Innovation Seed Fund
This program aims to support WA innovators to develop and commercialise their health and medical innovations through start-up companies operating in WA, creating high-value jobs and enhancing the biomedical support and manufacturing capacity of the State.

AgriFutures Horizon Student Scholarships – 2026
The AgriFutures Horizon Scholarship is awarded to students studying an agriculture-related undergraduate degree or a Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths/Finance (STEM) degree with relevant majors which align to agriculture.

Farmers’ Market Grant Scheme
Financial assistance, in the form of grants of up to $50,000 (excluding GST), will be available to farmers’ markets operators to support business operations, build capability and ensure a sustainable business model for future success.

WA Agricultural Show Grant
The WA Agricultural Show Grant Program is a non-competitive, allocation-based program, with $600,000 in total funding, and up to $10,000 available for each eligible recipient.

Small Business Export Loan
The Australian Government’s Small Business Export Loan provides small to medium export businesses with loans of $20,000 – $350,000 to cover up to 80% of the costs to secure an export contract or purchase order with an overseas buyer. The loans are designed to meet the specific needs of small and medium sized businesses, to take advantage of export opportunities when financial institutions cannot assist.

Green Iron Investment Fund – National Development Stream
This program will support the growth of Australia’s green iron industry and support Australian businesses leading the shift to sustainable manufacturing.

Pay it Forward Plan (PIF) – mental health and social and emotional wellbeing program
The Pay it Forward Plan (PIF) is an innovative early intervention and prevention mental health and social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) program, providing small grants funding to peer support groups.

Powering the Regions Industrial Transformation Stream (ITS)
This grant is available to support industrial facilities in regional Australia to reduce emissions in line with Australia’s 2030 emissions reduction goals and transition to net zero by 2050. It is open for applications supporting a range of industrial decarbonisation solutions, including but not limited, to electrification, energy efficiency, low emissions processing and fuel switching.Applications may be made at any time.

Social Impact Hub – Catalysing Impact program
This program aims to support impact enterprises and purpose-drive businesses working on solutions that advance climate resilience or inclusion.
Funding Amount: Stage 1: Capability and connections – grants of up to $10,000 are available.
Stage 2: Catalytic funding and showcase – grants between $150,000 and $400,000 are available.Closing Date: 30 January 2026

The Scanlon Foundation – supporting social cohesion
These grants fund projects that align with our core purpose to work with systems and institutions to support people who migrate to Australia and make it their home.

This scholarship is available to emerging and mid-career leaders in regional Western Australia the opportunity to further build their leadership capability.

- There are three scholarship programs aimed at financially supporting disadvantaged, community minded students from a rural or regional area, who have been offered a full-time place at an Australian TAFE.

Kaleidoscope Mentoring Program
This is a workplace readiness training and mentoring for migrants to reconnect with their chosen field in WA. The Kaleidoscope Initiative provides free five-day Workplace Readiness Training and a 12-week one-on-one Mentoring Program for migrants of any visa background wanting to reconnect with their chosen field in WA.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations’ Self Employment Assistance Program can help with your business idea or existing business through services including workshops, business plan development, free accredited Small Business Training, Business Advice Sessions, Business Health Check and coaching.

Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment
This Australian Government funding supports a wage increase for all eligible ECEC workers from December 2024. The Australian Government has announced a total investment of $3.6 billion towards the ECEC Worker Retention Payment, of this up to $3.5 billion has been made available for this grant opportunity. The grant funding awarded under this grant opportunity grant will be available from the first business day in December 2024 to 30 November 2026.
